two vessels hv the same bese area but diff. shapes. the first vessel takes twice the volume of water than that the second vessel requires to fill upto a perticular common height. is the force exerted by the water on the base of the vessel the same in the two cases? if so , why do the vessels filled with water to the same height give different readings on a weighhing scale.

hey ashish force will be same. as pressure is same

it shows different readings bcz N = mg
& m = density X volume(which is different)
so it will show different reading.

i m not able to understand your second question.
is wire first stretchee then weight is hanged or when weight is hanged then wire stretches.?????????????

The concerned formula is -

d = (W L³) / (4 Y A²)

^{W = WEIGHT HANGED,L = LENGTH OF STRING,Y = YOUNG'S MODULOUS, A = CROSS SETIONAL AREA.}
