a saturn is  29.5 times the earth year. how far is saturn from the sun if earth is
 1.50(10 into 10 upto 8 times)km away from sun?
 ans- 1.43(10into10upto9times)
   can we use cappelers law?

abhishek its easy use keplers 3 law
T^2 IS PROPORTIONAL TO a^3
LET T1 & T2 BE THE TIME OF REVO FOR EARTH
& SATURN . AND A1 &A2 BE RADIUS OF THEIR ORBIT
THEN
[T2/T1]^2 =[A2/A1]^3 PUT IN THE VALUES AND CALCULATE
29.5^2 = [A2/1.5]^3
A2=14.3 YOU HAVE DISPLACED THE DECIMAL POINT

Kepler's 3rd law implies that T2 is proportional to R3

Then (Tsaturn/Tearth)2 = (Rsaturn/Rearth)3
=> 29.52 = (Rsaturn/(1.5*108))3
=> Rsaturn = (1.5)(108)(29.52/3)
               = 1.43*109 km

@ abhishek

you can always use kepplers law coz its for planetary motion and not to b considered only for earth or its sattltes....so in any motion whose path is elliptical we can use kepplers law
