why do mechanical wave need medium to travel?
n why do electromagnetic do not??
( do not say about E vector n M vector)

Look, electromagnetic waves consist of electric and magnetic fields propagating parallel to each other. these fields do not require a material medium to travel. In sound waves, they r basically caused due to compression and rarefraction in the medium. Hence, without medium they cannot propagate.

aree bhai i think,
in mechanical waves a transfer of energy takes place and matter is required to hold energy,
obviously vaccum cannot hold energy,
only particles of a medium can........

which is fact without reason that light etc do not requiremedium....

well i suppose that is explained by particle nature of light not wave nature............ light wave is a special wave.... but still there are other cases where we get energy from electromagnetic radiations. a confusing situation....................

The e.m waves or mechanical waves are the 2 differntiaitions in waves. ( one with medium & another without medium).
But, the main point is that mechanical waves are themselves nothing, they are just pressure variations which propagate from one place to another & for pressure variations to occur it is must to have a medium (remember the need of Bulk Modulus).
In the case of string, more or less, it is the same case.
Talking about e.m. waves, they are really electric & magnetic fields which travel ( unlike mechanical where they are due pressure changes in medium) & so don't need any medium.
Still medium affects the path of e.m. waves due to its permitivitiy & permeability constants.

In case of electromagnetic waves the photons carry energy and they dont require material medium for propagation
In case of mechanical waves , the waves are formed the vibrations setup in the medium and they are propagated by the actual vibration of the particles about their mean position
