Sphere problem
None

1. A Sphere of radius R and mass M collides elastically with a cubical block of Mass M and side 2R. The entire system is on a smooth horizontal ground. Given that the sphere was rolling without slipping with an angular velocity w at the time of collision. The velocities of the sphere and the block are?

Please explain me how to do this problem. The answer provided is completely hopeless.

The cube is stationary.

2. A uniform meter stick of mass m is provided aout a horizontal axis through it;s lower end, Initially it is held vertical and is allowed to fall freely. It's angular velocity when it makes an angle of 60 deg. with the verical is?

Can we conserve ang. momentum here, I don't think so as initially it was HELD which means a torque in opp direction to the one of gravity was applied.

if there is no friction b/w the sphere and the cube then simply the velocity of the center of the sphere is transferred to the cube. no rotational effect.

cann't understand the second question.
