Choose a basis. Let us take 1000ml milk.
It has a mass of 1032 g
It contains 40 ml butter fat
Its mass is 40*0.865=34.6 g
So 960 ml of skimmed milk has a mass of 997.4 g
densit = 1.039 g/ml
