surface tension increases cause attraction increases when current is passed....hope the asnwer is correct....

wat is your reason........i feel tht as water conducts electricity only when we add salt and on adding such salts i feel tht ST increases.....

LOOK ....... NOW INCASE U ADD A SALT WHUCH IS READILY SOLUBLE IN WATER THEN U WILL EXPECT THE SURFACE TENSION TO INCREASE BUT IF U ADD SOAP TO WATER AND MAKE IT CONDUCTING THEN SURFACE TENSION DECREASES SO IT IS ACTUALLY ON WHAT U ADD RATHER THAN CONDUCTION AFFECTING SURFACE TENSION ????

HEY U GUYS HAVE NOT TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT THE HEATING EFFECT OF ELECTRIC CURRENT NOW DUE TO THIS U WILL EXPECT SOME OF THE HYDROGEN BONDS TO BREAK UP DUE TO HEAT PRODUCED SO SURFACE TENSION SHUD REDUCE BUT IF THE WATER IS CONDUCTING THEN WHAT I HAVE MENTIONED ABOVE HOLDS GOOD . BY THE WAY SCIENTISTS ARE PRESENTLY TRYING HARD TO EXPLAIN THE RESON FOR THIS INCREASE IN SURFACE TENSION JUST HAV A LUK IN DNET .......

This is simple yaar............ SURFACE TENSION IS DIRECTLY DEPENDANT ON TEMP......infact temp is its prime influence........ related inversely proportionsal to it..........
taking into account the heating effect of current , when current passes through water .......temp increases
and since temp increases SURFACE TENSION WILL DECREASE........
C'MON guys that's not rocket science.........

as the temp inc due to passage of electric current,so the surface tenstion will decrease. no doubt iam sure rate me please

it will decrease
the thing is that temperature increase volume volume is nothing but area *width since width is constant{as given liquid is in a container} area increases
we define surface tension as force per unit area hence surface tension is in inverse proportion with area hence when temp increase volume increases i.e area increases i.e. surface tension decreases
