DEAR JATIN, JUST ASSUME , JEUST FOR A WHILE LET YOUR MIND GET WIERD AND THINK WHAT IF GREVITY ACTS UPWARD MEANS, IT THROWS ALL BODIES AWAY FROM IT , INSTEAD OF ATTRACTING IT..
ANYTHING ELSE????

Gravity cannot just simply start acting upwards for it to happen we need a huge mass near our earth due to which the force of gravitation of that body becomes greater than that of the earth.
if such happens then the region of earth which is more near to that body will experience more attractive force and as u want the shape the attraction may deform earth and make it elliptical

HEY DAER GRAVITATION IS AN ATTRACTING FORCE SO HOW CAN IT ACT IN POPPOSITE DIRECTION ON PPL LIKE US (SMALL) AND IF A HUGE BODY IS THERE THEN IT WILL ATTRACT EARTH BUT CAN NEVER REPEL

Before answering ur ?ion, let's go back to the definition of gravity. It is the resultant gravitational force which the earth exerts on any other mass in it grav. field. So, as it can be infered from the question, the net force of gravitation of the earth has changed from attractive to repulsive. This means that the force due to each particle constituting the earth will be repulsive . Now, let us consider a diametrical line starting from the top of the earth (in diagram), passing through the centre and ending at the bottom. On this line, we consider a small particle of mass dm, at a depth h which is obviously less than radius of the earth (the depth of any particle except the centre is < R). So, dm divides the strip into 2 unequal lengths and hence two unequal masses. So, the greater mass will repel dm in one direction with a greater force while the lesser mass will repel dm in the opposite direction with a lesser force. It can be shown that when the forces due to all d particles of the earth are considered, then the total resultant force on dm is in the direction of the force exerted by the greater length of the initially considered line. Hence the particle will experience a net force in this direction. The effect will be more pronounced when the particle will be close to d surface. So, the paritcles on the surface will be repelled and thrown away in outwatd direction. After this layer is eliminated, the next layer becomes the surface- layer and undergoes the same process. The entire process will take a very short time (it will take place in the form of a explosion) and the earth will cease to exist. The speed of elimination of the layers will gradually decrease as they get closer and closer to the centre. At last, the centre will be left behind.

I THINK ALL BODIES ON EARTH EILL BE THROWN AWAY
FINALLY THE EARTH WILL START DISINTEGRATING TO CREATE A VOID IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM

hi!! pratikeesh, So good of you , that you explained your thougths very well. you have a clear picture of what is going to happen, but, i think there's a point which i didn't understand------------ the resulant force becoming compleatly repulsive, and resulting in the disintegration of earth.how can it happen ; have your eyes through this, when the gravity changes its direction , it got to be ,pulling earth outward, resulting in an elliptical shape, which would in turn tend the earth to move around the sun in a parabolic path , may be , the days get considerably longer at the equator(which would surely expand) and at the poles the day period may decrease to a few hours..... the earth will not disintegrate but will start revolving faster and a year may as well decrease...... applying your concept of resulting force acting on the body due to each particle(of mass dm)and the truth that magnitude of gravity depends on the centre of mass,i think ,the earth will have a decreased force of gravity and , the atmosphere will leave the earth .....but surely the earth will not disintegrate(as still the net force will be inwards)... i agree with "Sharkirshafi12 and Chimansu_007" on their answers of earth becoming elliptical, but , guys , you need to explain that as well....... the earth will become elliptical as the gravity will try to expand it outwards, but , how can , earth leave its natural tendency(due to the mass it posses) of getting the minimum surface area , i.e, becoming a sphere, but all this will only result in an elliptical shape , with the centre of mass doing a simple harmonic motion horizontally...........(wierd , unbelievable, totaly rubbish whatever you think, but , when we think of something so wierd , then the results are ougth to be wierd). its been fun racking my brain over this , after all , we are the future engineers, isn't it...so. everything wierd is worth a thougth...................... lets see , what are great , experts (sir , please guide us through)have to say........ keep smiling...........................................

(<the thinking is good>) - but if so happens there should be no atmosphere because all constituting gases will escapes out. 2> when gravity acts outward mg = GmM\R.R ( IF ANY OBJECT OF MASS 'm' COME CLOSER) m(-g) = GMm\R.R ( This is repulsive force) (this is attractive) so -g = GM\R.R g = -MG\R.R (G,R is constant) uuuuuu ... mass of earth will decrease as a result shape will affected ( if a error is predicted PLEASE SEND MESSAGE)
