Two forces at work here --- earth's gravity tries to pull the moon down to it, but at the same time the moon has its own speed through space that's trying to hurl it outward away from earth. The two forces almost counteract each other, so the moon simply goes round and round. However, the moon is gradually moving farther away from us --- about 1.5 inches per year.

The moon is much more nearer to earth as compared to sun therefore the moon revoles around the earth........therefore it is influenced more by Earths force rather than suns force.........

Maybe the moon moves under a resultant force. And is the energy conserved while it does revolve around the earth?

yaa question is correct but not getting any logic,,,,,its not any physical reason,.,,just the fault of origin,,,ab chanda mama dharti mata ke aas paas ghumte hue paida hue to suraj babu ka chakkar ku lagayenge................paida hi chakkar lagate hue liya hai earth ke around sab enrgy momentum...idhar earth ke pas hi conserve rahta hai...
