what is the difference between normal and weight

basically normal and weight are relative terms.
I am consiering the example of a man standing on a weighing machine accelerating upwards .
Now the forces on the man w.r.t the elevator frame are the weight downwards pseudo force(ma) downwards and a normal force upwards(force exerted by the machine). from this we get N=mg+ma. Now this reading of N will be shown by machine and would be the apparent weight of man.
P.S Mass remains same but weight can differ

good answer but 1 thing is dat normal is apparent wieght and can be shifted from 1 point to another
by applying suitable force at suit. height but weight cant be

NORMAL IS THE REACTION FORCE OFFERED BY AN OBJECT ON WHICH A BODY STANDS AND THE WEIGHT IS THE FORCE EXERTED BY THE BODY ON THE SURFACE IN CONTACT DUE TO GRAVITY

If a body is kept on floor , the ground will exert a reaction force making an angle with X axis as it is a inertial frame .............newton's third law
This reaction force is resolved in 2 components
Fcos =friction in X axis
Fsin =normal reaction force in Y axis
If we see in Y axis , normal force and mg (weight) are equal and opposite.thus they r related

If a body is kept at a place where apparant gravity is g' then weight is mass*g'. This weight might be balanced by normal force in most of the cases but there may be cases when weight is not equal to normal force. Suppose you are pulling water from a well using pully. In this case the string will be pulling you upwards and hence normal will be les than the weight.

when a body is placed on a object,,,,then a reaction force exerted by object to body is called normal .while weight is the force exerted by the body due to gravity on the surface of contact.. if i helped u plzzzzzzzz rate me plzzzzzzz
