when we open the pen cap with two fingers it can be opened easily but when we try this wit

produce Torque. Grip with two fingers generate enough friction force to produce required Torque. Single fingre can opnen if little torque is needed as little frictional force is possible.

also... if u see some of the books... torque is referred to as couples.... coz two forces opp. in direction are need usually... and shamips is absolutely right... friction produces torque...... sometimes... we even can even open it wid one finger.. but if u r talking about caps like that of reynolds... we increase normal force on the cap by pressing both the fingers hard.... then friction becones higher....... then.. if we can make it higher than opening force... we open it..
