IN long use they subjected ulternative strains or stresses so the lose there elastic stranght. may be i m correct!

No it is due to forced oscillations caused due to resonance caused by matchin of vehicles's frequencies with fundamental frequency of bridge and over many years bridge grows weak! @guy below me... most wearing of bridge takes place due to forced oscillations by resonance only!

me1st is right ............. it is because after years the bridge's strain wud increase which will lead to a situation in which the bridge breaks

the rusting of the maetals involved is the main reason.... the stress factor is also thr!!!

bridges r diclear unsafe after long use because they loose their elasticity after repeated stress and strain by the vehicles going over the bridges.
