HERE you have to apply

conservation energy

when the block fall on spring and compresses it so work done = energy

   as work done is stored as energy in spring

   =

s = 5m  = 37  m=2kg    (as total distance = 5m)

now this energy is released in form of expansion

and , work is done

so by both eqn

we get  =

so by substituting values we get    = 0.5

and by putting  = 0.5 in any eqn we get

k = 1000N/m^2
