if v hv electrons in H atom in 3.4 eV energy state, n v excite dem wid 12.5 eV photons why wont the

if v hv electrons in H atom in 3.4 eV energy state, n v excite dem wid 12.5 eV photons why wont they ionize ,will they respond 2 photons of only compatible energies

No rick in that case they will get ionised with a kinetic energy of (12.5-3.4) = 9.1 eV. But if you give them a photon of energy 1 eV they will not respond.
