Can we treat the p type and n type semiconductors as ions ? Explain

These semiconductors are electrically neutral and so cannot be treated as ions.....

N-Type semiconductor just has an extra 'free electron'. It also has an extra proton of the pentavalent impurity....

Similar is the case with P-type semiconductors....
