A He+ ion in its ground state is hit by an alpha particle. Find the minimum kinetic energy of the alpha particle for which the collision may not be perfectly elastic?

 see the energy should not be lost in the collision for ellastic collision

now energy can only belost if their is electronic transiction

so minimum electronic transition should be 3*13.2 ev=39.6eV
