In the phenomenon of electric discharge through gases at low pressaure the coloured glow in the tube appears due to

1 excitation of electrons in atoms
2collison between the atoms of the gas

3collison between the charged particles emitted from the cathode and atoms of the gas

4collison between different electrons of the atoms of the gas

i think ans should be 3 am i correct please tell me rates assured please dont guess

i think the first one is more perfect than the 3 one
excitation of electron causes transition between them
so when white light falls on it it absorbs all colour and emit a single colour or absorbs a single colour and emitts all
the same thig as in d block or f block

also the third one can be true as collision can excite electrons
if my answer is right then please rate me or nudge me if i m wron somewhere

yes...u r correct.
at low pressre discharge, the electrons move through the discharge tube due to electric potential, and collide with stationary particles(gas atoms,in general) to produce a glow in the tube

yaar the glow in the electric discharge was my science project ......
its damn simple......

u just need a potentail diff. btw 2 electrodes in a gas.tube......
when the electrons will be emitted from the cathode they will have enough energy to generate vsisible light by excitation of gases by collision......

so ur answer hovers btw 1st and 3rd......
but more precise ill be 3rd..

u see the diff. now............its pretty simple....
the glow is produced at all points of collision......
