AIEEE candidates seek admission in GBTU

About 11,000 All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) qualified candidates are keen to take admissions in the technical colleges affiliated to Gautam Buddh Technical University (GBTU) and Mahamaya Technical University (MTU) this year.
According to GBTU officials, the university has received 10,903 application forms from AIEEE qualified candidates for participation in the counseling. "The number of AIEEE candidates seeking admission in our colleges has increased significantly. It is an indication that more students are interested in pursuing technical education with us,'' said admission committee member Prof Manish Gaur. Last year, only 600 candidates had applied for the counseling.The total number of seats in BTech in various engineering colleges affiliated to GBTU and MTU are 1.33 lakh. About 26,000 seats come under 'admissions through AIEEE' category. Though the applications are far less than the number of seats, Prof Gaur said, "The actual competition is for around 1,000-1,500 seats as most of AIEEE candidates will seek admissions in prominent colleges only.''
He said the counseling for centralised seats is scheduled for July 5 and 6.However, it's a grim picture for management seats. Only 43 candidates who have qualified Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) have filled up counseling forms. "The number in management courses is low as students hardly had information about CMAT. The figure will surely increase in the coming days,'' said Prof Gaur.This year the university has kept 20% admissions in management institutes through CMAT while it introduced 20% admissions through AIEEE for BTech last year.
