Chief secretaries to adopt science to better people's lives

Engineering Entrance , MBA

Chief secretaries from states were impressed by the scientific output of the central government and will adopt the ready to use technology products to better the lives of common people in their states, Science and Technology Minister Prithviraj Chavan said Monday.

"For the first time, we had such a meeting with chief secretaries of states and union territories. They are willing to adopt the new technologies in states for providing better services to the people," Chavan told a select group of reporters after the meet.

"The interface of the science ministry with states is very important. This will bridge the gap which existed for a long time. Technology is not everything but a final product is and this should benefit people," the minister said.

Seven secretaries from departments like space, atomic energy, biotechnology, the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), gave presentations telling states about the available technologies which they can use.

"What is important is they all got convinced," T. Ramasamy, secretary in the department of science and technology said.

"We are forming a expert group for developing a technology road map. Within one month, the information flow will be smooth," he added.
