Engineering entrance: Steps to speed up normalisation
Engineering Entrance
,
JEE Main
The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) has initiated steps to speed up the process of normalising marks to ensure that there is no delay in publishing the results of engineering entrance examinations.
Last year, the results were delayed indefinitely because of the delay in completing the normalisation of marks.
This was because students from over 30 boards from India and abroad had appeared for the entrance examinations. This had in fact delayed the option registration process and admission, sources said.
To overcome this, the CEE office has decided to begin the option registration even before the rank list for engineering courses are published.
As per the schedule, the option registration process for engineering and medical courses will begin on June 14 and the first allotment will be held on July 3.
The engineering rank list will be announced by the time the trial allotment is completed after normalising the marks of different boards from India and abroad. The students will be given one more chance to rearrange the already registered options.
As per the reforms in the engineering examinations introduced last year, equal weightage will be given to the marks obtained in the entrance examination for engineering and the grade or marks obtained for mathematics, physics and chemistry/computer science/biotechnology/biology, at the plus-two or its equivalent.
Candidates who have qualified in the engineering entrance examination have been given time till June 6 to submit the marks obtained for these subjects in the second year of plus two through the website www.cee.kerala.gov.in.
The candidates have also been asked to forward the printout of the marks submission data sheet duly signed along with the attested copy of plus-two mark sheets to the office of the CEE, on or before 5 pm on June 8.
