GNDEC students get maximum placements

The Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC) has received the maximum placement among colleges affiliated to PTU, according to Dr M S Saini, director of the college. Saini said that though the placement drive for the academic year 2010-2011 was a success for PTU as a whole, it was GNDEC, which got 272 of its students recruited. The other major winners in the PTU placement drive are DAVIET, Jalandhar (230 students); SUSCET, Tangori(183); LLRIET, Moga(133) and ACET Amritsar(124).
DMCH to spread awareness on World TB Day
Ludhiana: A week-long tuberculosis awareness drive is underway at the Dayanand Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and will conclude on March 26. As a part of the drive, intra-departmental postgraduate sessions are being conducted on topics related to tuberculosis and its prevention. The theme for this year’s World TB day — which falls on March 24 — is “On the move against Tuberculosis: Innovate to accelerate action.” A sensitisation lecture on the disease by Dr G S Dhooria is scheduled for the day followed by a panel discussion.

CMCH students stage play to raise funds for poor patients
Ludhiana: Students from the the Christian Medical College staged a musical, The Wicked, at the Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan. The proceeds from the event will be used to treat patients in the intensive care unit of the hospital. Directed by students and doctors from the college, the musical is based on a novel by Gregory Maguire — a prequel to the popular book The Wizard of Oz.
