IIT JEE toppers to represent India at Physics Olympiad

For the second consequent year IIT JEE toppers have qualified to represent India at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO).
The final team of students, which was announced by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) includes Bijoy Singh Kochar (rank 2) from Mohali, Jeevana Priya (topper among girls and rank 21) from Secundarabad, Kunal Singhal (rank 18) from New Delhi, Rahul Trivedi (rank 42) from Lucknow and Pulkit Tandon (rank 58) from Jabalpur.
The IPhO 2012 will be held in Tartu and Tallin, Estonia, Europe from July 15-24. The HBCSE has been a nodal centre for training and selecting students for the physics olympiad since 1998.
The Indian team selection process began in November 2011 where around 43,000 students participated. The first level examination was conducted by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT). For the second level, also known as Indian National Physics Olympiad (INPhO) examination, 307 students were shortlisted. The final team was selected after an intensive selection camp.
