IIT releases first seat-allotment list
Engineering Entrance
,
After a three-day wait, the first IIT admissions list allotting seats was finally released. However, IIT-Delhi, the branch which organised the Joint Entrance Exam this year, did not issue any statement about the number of students allotted seats in the first round.
For now, the list, which was scheduled to be out on Thursday, was released on IIT-Delhi’s website. “But once we are provided with the link to the results page, students will be able to check it on all the IITJEE websites, zone-wise,” said AV Mahajan, Chairman, IITJEE Bombay Zone.
Confirming the seat allotment, IITJEE chairman JB Reddy said, “Candidates will now have to make the payment, which I will finalise, for their admission.” When asked about the general analysis of IIT and candidates’ course preferences, he said, “A student whose JEE score is not good has applied for most of the IITs and courses. It is not logical to consider options given by such candidates to finalise the preference trends.”
After the results were declared on May 18, candidates filled their choice of IITs and courses online from May 19, which continued till June 10. The web release of the first course allotment, earlier scheduled on June 14, was delayed by three days due to a technical glitch.
“Suitable software created for the allotments took longer than expected,” Mahajan said.
