Keep caution money below 2%: Parents

Engineering Entrance ,

With a mixed reaction from parents on the proposed School Fee Regulation Bill, and the anxiety of private unaided schools, a meeting was organised on Tuesday at YB Chavan Auditorium, Churchgate. It was held to address the grievances of parents and the considerations of the state government regarding school fee structure.“We have proposed that the caution amount should not exceed 2%,” said Harish Butle, the head of Mahaparents, a parents association. Butle also pointed out that though the fee regulation committee has appointed an institute of cost and works accountant official, there is feeble guarantee that the in-charge is not ‘managed’ or ‘influenced’ by any individual or organisation.

The parents also voiced their opinion against the ‘rule’ that their wards will be expelled from their schools if the fee payment has not been made. “We would really appreciate if we are informed and asked for the reason for late/non payment of fees. Our children are not to be punished for something the parents are responsible for,” said a parent of a student from a reputed school in the city.“It would be helpful if the website is updated with the details of the fee structure and that the fee of one month is close to the fee of one term,” said Varsha Bhargav, another parent.
