Feb'12Race for JNTU-K registrar's post begins
A new registrar may be appointed for the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada in February.
It is learnt that Professor G.Tulasi Ram Das, who assumed charge as vice-chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada (JNTU-K) 75 days ago, is set to make some major changes to improve its functioning, one such is likely to be the change of the present registrar.
According to sources, the guidelines clearly state that the professor should have completed at least eight years of service to qualify for the registrar's post.
Though there are six professors in the race for the coveted post, Prof. E.V. Prasad, one of the directors in the University stands a good chance, according to sources.
Sources said that the six qualified contenders are University Rector Prof. Satya Prasad, the senior most among the six, but reportedly involved in a CBI case relating to Al-Ameer College of Engineering in Vizianagaram district, Prof. E.V. Prasad (Computer Science and Director), Mr P. Udaya Bhaskar (Principal, Engineering College of JNTU), Mr S. Srinivasa Kumar, Mr Prabhakara Rao and Mr Ramachandra Raju (Vizianagaram).
Sources said that Mr Udaya Bhaskar is likely to continue as principal of JNTU Engineering College, Kakinada, as he worked hard to get autonomy for the college.
Mr Das also wants to continue him since the college has been sanctioned nearly Rs.12 crores.
Sources said that the new registrar’s appointment may take place after the ECET-2012 (Engineering Common Entrance Test-2012) scheduled to be held in May and completion of fresh recruitments. It is learnt that an executive council may be formed for the University soon.
