Technical glitch mars online AIEEE
Engineering Entrance
,
JEE Main
Students appearing for the last online session of the All India Engineering Entrance Examination on Saturday at the Bharati Vidyapeeth College faced a tough time as the server crashed twice during the exam and the power supply went off for around ten minutes.
However, all the candidates were given appropriate extra time. A student who appeared for the test at the centre, said, “While the exam was on, the computer screen shut, as there was no power supply. Also, the server crashed twice during the examination.
When the programme shut due to the server crash, my remaining timing shown on the screen was 1 hour 20 minutes. But when the system got back, it showed 1 hour 16 minutes. It is enough reason for my mind to get restless.”
Dr DY Patil, principal of the college, said, “They (AIEEE) are just using our infrastructure. We are not involved in conducting the examination. So I will not be able to comment on the matter.”
However, he admitted that there was a power cut problem for some time.
Rama Sharma, public relations officer of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which conducts the examination,
said, “I am not personally aware about such an incident. However, if the candidates were given enough extra time to complete their paper, then I do not think there was any issue.”
