These toppers are raring to go

Engineering Entrance , JEE Main

There are many ways to put your knowledge to test, but for Archana Sasi, it was through the IIT-JEE entrance exam. Archana, a student of National Public School, Indiranagar, who bagged rank 1 at ComedK medical entrance test, says she loves challenging herself. "I appeared for IIT-JEE examination as I wanted to test my knowledge of physics and chemistry. I cracked the exam, but I am destined to be a medical practitioner," says Archana, who also got the top rank in entrance tests like Jipmer and CET.

Archana loves penning down her thoughts in the form of poetry, and says they help put her thoughts together. "Poetry connects abstract feelings, I love doing it. As far as performing well in exams like ComedK is concerned, identifying your weaknesses might do the trick. I worked hard and studied on a regular basis. I also focused on solving previous years' question papers and took a lot of mock tests," says Archana, elated over her success.

Keerthana Haridas, with rank 2, is from National Public School, Koramangala. "I was expecting this rank. ComedK gave us our score a few days ago, and I got 167 out of 180. Since I knew Archana's scores, I predicted the rank," said Keerthana, who also did well at the CET, with rank 8. "I've also qualified for CMC Vellore, but I'm waiting for St John's Medical College result," said Keerthana.

Third on the list of aspiring doctors is Surakshit GD, a student of Expert PU College in Mangalore. Surakshit also secured rank 82 in CET and is set to join a college of his choice. "I would go through the CET rank but I have not yet decided on the college," said Surakshit.

IIT DREAMS

While IIT is the ultimate destination for aspiring engineers, Deepa M, ComedK topper and a student of MES Kishore Kendra PU College, thinks differently. A top ranker in CET as well, Deepa did not take up the IIT-JEE test. "I am happy with my CET and ComedK results and will take up one of the colleges of my choice. I feel clarity of thought can bring out the best in you," says Deepa, who loves music and movies.

If you thought that those cut out for IIT cannot appreciate soft subjects like literature, here's Vivek BS, a student of Deeksha Integrated Centre for Learning, who loves Kannada literature. "Apart from that, I enjoy playing football and cricket. I also appeared for IIT-JEE, MIT and CET. I will be taking up IIT Madras with my rank of 1981," said Vivek, who feels that speed is the mantra to beat exams like ComedK.

While the list was dominated by students from Karnataka, this lad from Andhra Pradesh managed to secure a place for himself. Haren Saga of Sri Chaitanya College in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, secured the third rank. Haren says he studied continuously for 10 hours a day. "My hard work finally paid off. I've also done well at IIT-JEE with a rank of 249 and look forward to joining IIT Mumbai," said Haren.
