No man... an NIT is an NIT... a very big name. the placements are very good take whatsoever branch.

Low NIT ------- Srinagar , Agartala , Silchar ,     possibly in the top 10,000 institutes .

goto some good NIT with a "not so well recieved courses" like meta/prod/civil if u can...there is a lot u can do from such fields as well.

very good question!!! i myself wanted to know this but thanks 2 u finally I can get some opinions!

My opinion is that theres no point in NIT in case u dislike the subject. If u dont feel like stuydin during the entire course then u wont get good marks. Wht do others think?

Btw, does NIT Durgapur classify as a low NIT ?

Join private institution only if it is a reputated one. Otherwise join an average NIT with lower branch and work hard to change your branch after first year.
