the concept of private &govt plays role in fee and placement but as vit is one of top colleges so u can go for it

its quite funny actually ppl leave topmost colls in india just cz thy r pvt.

i hv seen my frnz go for nagpur university leaving sm gud pvt colls..just cz thy r govt.

nw they r suffering big time...always select topnotch colls either thy r pvt or govt.

iirespective of wht ur surroundings think abt thm..cheers!
