why do we use alphabet 'u'.to give object distance and 'v' for image distance........................plzzzzzzzz reply fast

Here u and v represents initial and final distance

you can also use p and q or O and I.... we use them as per our sign convention !!! and as said above they re easy 2 remember so v use them !!

because it indicates the final postion and initial position and lens only contains 3 most preferable letters which are U V and R

the guy who did it first used u and v....and we follow him...its ur choice to use whatever u want
