Real depth means actual depth while apparent depth is what appears to your eye.

Remember that apparent depth is the depth as estimated in another medium other than the media in which observer is.It may be rarer or denser as compared to this.app depth=real depth/n

real depth = it is the actual depth which the body or containber have

 

Apparent depth = it is the depth which is visible or which is seen by us after the refraction,etc
