it is a chemical reaction in which two or more molecules of same or different carbonyl compounds containing alpha H.. unite together in the presence of dilute base such as naoh,baoh,k2co3 to form compounds called aldol..exception- formaldehyde though dont contain alpha hydrogen yet undergoes aldol condensation..

 Hey dude, this guy is right, but I think Formaldehyde undergoes cannizarros reaction and not an aldol condensation.

 This reaction is given by this aldehydeS or ketoneS which have atleast one alphahydrogen atom................
