are carbons at 1,4th poaition of 1,4-dimethylycyclohexane chiral?
None

i think the answer should be dat they are achiral because of planar symmetry but chirality refers to the stereogenic carbon atom im not sure of the answer plzz help

U R PERFECTLY RIGHT THAT THE COMPOUND HAS A PLANE OF SYMMETRY SO IT SIMPLY CANT BE A CHIRAL CENTRE .

WANT MORE DETAIL I WILL HAVE TO GATHER INFO AND POST IT .

WHENEVER U GOT PLANE OF SYMMETRY NO QN. OF CHIRALITY .

MAN BUT THERE IS ONE MORE FACT SEE U GOTTA CONSIDER THE 3D STRUCTURE SAY BOTH CH3 ARE CIS  THEN PLANE OF SYMMETRY IS THERE LEST IF THEY ARE TRANS U DON HAVE PLANE OF SYMMETRY

BUT STILL IT WILL BE ACHIRAL COZ IT HAS TWO SIMILAR SUBSTITUENTS ON EITHER SIDE OF RING SO IT WILL BE ACHIRAL ONLY .
