What are Aromatic compounds in exact sense(i know that they follow Huckle rule and conditions required for it to be aromatic) and why is it that they are so stable?

The more the number of electrons in the pi bonding molecular orbitals, greater is the stability of the compound ,as there is a greater possibility of resonance to give resonance delocalised structure. Hence aromaticity is nothing but this property which gives extra stability to such kind of compounds. And the conditions for the compound to be aromatic are they shd be planar, shd have Resonance Stabilization(as quoted by shubham and nunoxic) and also each atom of the ring must have a p orbital which must be perpendicular to the plane of the ring.
