I Would like to know............. 1. the conditions for resonance in relation with the various conjugations( pi-sigma-+ve, pi-sigma-(-ve) )
2.Under What conditions does resonance NOT take place Inspite of the presence of these conjugations?
Thank U.

For resonance we must have a lone pair of electrons pr a negative charge or a pi bond followed by a sigma then again a pi. We may or may not have an extended conjugated system

Five major conditions for resonance to take place-
pi in conjugation with sigma bond, lone pair in conjugation with pi bond, + charge in conjugation with pi bond, - charge in conjugation with pi bond free radical in conjugation with pi bond,
Hope it helped,
