This can be done in 3 steps.
1.Hydrolysis to acetylene
2.Acid catalysed hydrolyis(in presence of Hg^2+) to get acetaldehyde
3. Smidt reaction to get ethane nitrile

smidt reaction of an aldehyde will end in a cyanide.
