How to convert butane from diethyl ether?????
C2H5OC2H5 + H2O (H+) -----> 2 C2H5OH
C2H5OH + HBr (Anhydrous ZnCl2) ----> C2H5Br
2 C2H5Br + 2Na -----> C4H10 + 2NaBr (WURTZ RXN.)
Hydrolysis of diethyl ether with dil. sulphuric acid will give ethanol.
Reaction of ethanol with HBr will give ethyl bromide
Wurtz reaction of ethyl bromide ( with sodium metal) gives n-butane.
