Does Fehling’s solution oxidize Benzaldehyde?
Engineering Entrance , Medical Entrance , AIPMT , JEE Main , AIIMS , JEE Advanced , Chemistry , Organic Chemistry

1. Does Fehling’s solution oxidize Benzaldehyde? Or it oxidizes aliphatic aldehydes only?

3. Which of the following gives iodoform test?

a) CH3COCH2COCH3

b) CH3COCOCH3

c) CH3COOH

d) CH3COCl

Fehling's solution oxidises aliphatic aldehyses to corresponding carboxylic acid and itself gets reduced to a red ppt. However aromatic aldehydes are not reduced by Fehling's solution. Thus benzaldehyde will not be xoidised by fehling's solution.
