which portion of the molecule gets oxidised or reduced when it has two or more functional groups cite a few examples

Portion having a group containing C, H and O will be preferably oxidized. eg in glycol aldehyde, CH2OH.CHO, this on oxidation will give glycollic acid, CH2OH.COOH
Nitrogen containing groups are not oxidized. NO2 group is reduced.
