Karthik can you explain "A" part. Won't it lead to poly substitution.

Also bromine water will generate HOBr which will add to double bond so why Br2 is getting added?

@wolf -

HOBr is the species generated no doubt, but the electrophile here is Br+ and not OH+. That answers your first query.

Now, the group attached to the phenyl ring is only weakly activating, hence, you wont get a poly brominated compound.
