Easy but nice
None

1)C-H bond distance is longest in C2H4 or C2H2Br2 Why? I possible explain with a diagram.

2)Among the following which 1 will get readily sulphonated
benzene, choro-benzene, nitro-benzene, or toluene.Why?

3)What r asymmetrical atoms?

Sorry for writing 3 ques at same time but plz answer.

1)  C2H4 has a longer C-H bond length. This is because, in C2H2Br2 , due to electron donating Br groups, electron density on carbon is higher due to which H sticks to it. Sorry, i coudn't make a diagram here.

2) Nitrobenzene because during sulphonation, the radical added is HSO3- . That is it would be attracted towards +ve charge. And nitrobenzene deactivates the benzene ring.

Look, all others (except benzene itself ) activate the benzene ring. So meta positions are less -ve. But nitrobenzene puts +ve charge on ortho, para making it more +ve and hence substitution is easy.

Dear Ashish,

I am sorry dude , a rule is a rule, If experts answer your three questions on one page, other will come up with the same thing too. So please let us know which of these questions you want to be answered first and then post other queries on a new page

Asymmetric compounds are those in which at least one chiral C-atom is present.

In case of CH2Br2 elctron donating group increses electron density on carbon atom and hence carbon attracts hydrogen atoms towards it.Hence  bond  length  is  higher  for  C2H4.

We are instructed to answer one query at a time.So please post your other queries on a new page.Hope you understand.

Best Wishes

the above first deals with the bromine atom being attached to the carbon atom. Wtih the br atom attached to the carbon there is parial positive charge on the carbon atom which causes the C-B bond lenght to decrease

Hi,
Assymetrical atoms r those which have atleast one chiral carbon atom, or a carbon atom which has different groups attchd. 2 it. Assym. atoms can also be those atoms which are not superimposible when a mirror image of it has been taken. A perfect case can be that of Lactic Acid (C3H6O3 )
