in the first reaction itself, the grignard reagent reacts with the acidic proton of ethyne to form methane ..... and the reaction never proceeds........

really sorry .....i ..i dont know what happened.
yes first it forms
 +      (-)
MgBr CC after the second reaction it forms
C - C=O
              |
             OH
aahh now i am getting the sequence. u see as i have said in my next post

HgSO4/H2SO4 comes for only alkynes seeeee the prodect is alkene.
now it forms
C=C - C=O
     |     |
    OH  OH
now it tautamarises to form
C--C -- C=O
     ||      |
     O    OH
i tried to attach a file showing the mechanism the format was not accepted.

final product will be malonic acid(propan-1,3-dioic acid)

first it will form MgBr CCH, then with (CO2/ H3O+) , it will form

HC C-COOH.

with HgSO4/H2SO4, it will form OHC-CH2-COOH

and further with Ag2O , it will oxidise to malonic acid ( HOOC-CH2-COOH )
