if my memory is ryt

terephthalic acid is 1,4-benzene dicarboxylic acid

p-xylene is

Benzene ring. CH3 on first and fourth C...

p-toluic acid is

Benzene Ring. CH3 on first and COOH on fourth...
(not 2 sure)

BTW i dont think the name should be p-toluic acid coz COOH is more activ grp than CH3 so it should be p-methyl benzoic acid.

I m not sure...

Terephthalic acid is 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid ( two carboxyl groups para with respect to each other)

p-toluic acid is 4-methly benzoic acid ( methyl group and carboxyl group para with respect to each other)

p-xylene is 1,4-dimethyl benzene ( two methyl groups para with respect to each other)
