This is NCERT Question How is it tha a ketone reacts with Grignard Reagent to form a tertiary alcohol but in the reaction of a nitrile with Grignard Reagent, a ketone is formed?...............shudn't the ketone thus formed react with grignard reagent ?

this is just a hunch may be if a small quantity of grignard reagent is taken(enough only to react with the nitrile) cheeeers

If the grignard reagent is used in limited quantity then ketone formation would take place with a little amount of tertiary alcohol.

all is the matter of quantity of grignard. if you will take excess of grignard then it form ketone and then tert. alchol if limited quantity of grignard krtonr and few amount of tert.alchol will form have a nice day hoping for salute....................
