Phenol gives Violet colour with Dilute FeCl3 but carboxylic acid doesnt.

carboxlic acid when treated with   NAHCO3 evolves CO2 gas


 


whereas phenol does not react with NAHCO3.

By reaction with Na2CO3 or NaHCO3.
Carboxylic acid will give brisk effervescence (formation of CO2) as it has -COOH group.
Phenol will not liberate CO2 on reaction with Na2CO3 or NaHCO3.
