in that compound the pi electron system must be parallel to each other and there must be 4n+2 pi electrons where n is an integer.. so the no of pi electrons can be 2,6,10....

first of all the compund must be cyclic..second there should be (4n+2) pi electons "active in the resonance";next.. all the atoms participating in resonance must be sp2 hybridised..thats it :-)
