How to identify the existence of plane of symmetry, line of symmetry, axis of symmetry and point of symmetry in a molecule?
1) For plane of symmetry, check if the molecule can be divided into two equal halves.
2) Centre of Symmetry: Check if a pt exists such that it is equidistant from similar atoms on either side. that pt will be the pt of symmetry.
3) Axis of Symmetry : Rotate the molecule by 360 degrees, and check if u get a similar structure.
