Alkenes don't give white ppt with Ammoniacal Silver Nitrate.........................

 

Only those alkynes which have terminal triple bond and hence, an acidic H+ donationation capacity, give white ppt with Ammoniacal Silver Nitrate.......................Non-terminal alkynes don't.............

 

And all aldehydes give the white ppt.......................Ketones don't...............

and formic acid(no other carboxylic acid) also gives tollen's test

Alkenes do not react with ammoniacal silver nitrate.

Only terminal alkynes ( carbon-carbon triple bond with hydrogen on one carbon) react with ammoniacal silver nitrate to form ppt.

Alpha keto hydroxy compounds also gives tollens test..........
