deactivating..electrophile would attack on any of the extreme rings since they are more activated as compared to the middle one..and less hindered too...

phenyl activates the ring and is ortho para directing and just like any alkyl group aryl is weakly activating,


for triphenyl benzene central ring is more activated than extreme ones so central ring is attacked but steric factor is also involved
