Open chain structure of glucose fails to explain the following facts:
1) Glucose does not form NaHSO3 addition product, does not form aldehyde ammonia, does not respond to Schiff's reagent.
2) Glucose reacts with NH2OH to form oxime but glucose penta-acetate does not.
3) Glucose exists in two stereoisomeric forms- alpha and beta.
4) Both alpha and beta glucose undergo mutarotation.
5) D-Glucose forms two methyl glucosides.
6) UV spectrum of glucose does not show the presence of aldehyde group.

It doesnot give 2-4DNP test besides of having an aldehydic grp because the aldehydic grp in glucose is not free. It is linked to the third carbon of the glucose.
