the mechanism of reactions depend upon the intermediates formed and order of reaction. the reactions that are completed in 2 steps are under SN1 category(order=2) while those that are completed in a single step by formation of a transistion state are under SN2 category(order=2).

there are lot of name reactions.......from aldol,cannizaro to Michael addition(approx. 13 in carbonyl)......please specify the reaction to get its mechanism.....
